Visit Potential Employers

Visiting potential employers after applying will show them you are serious about working there.

How You Show Up Matters

As you have applied to positions, now its time to get out and get yourself known. While many jobs and employers have gone to a remote workforce, many still have offices from which the majority still work. As you research companies, make a note of their physical location. We recommend making copies of your resume on 32-pound resume paper and personally hand delivering copies to the hiring manager of the companies you have applied for. Be sure to dress in appropriate professional attire, be respectful of everyone you come in contact with, and prepare a "Me in 30 Seconds" speech to recite to the hiring manager. That way, you introduce yourself quickly and succinctly while respecting the person's time. Be sure to thank them for their time and, if possible, get their contact information so you can follow up later.

How to Prepare for Employer Visits

Visiting Employers is a great way to show that you are interested in the position and that you are also dedicated and hard-working. In this section, we have provided a simple checklist for you to review before visiting potential employers. Going through this checklist will ensure you feel comfortable and confident when walking in.

How to Show Professionalism

Showing up and being professional is one of the most important things you can do while visiting employers. It shows that you respect the position, their time, and the business. Below, we have provided the Professionalism video from the interviewing section for you to review. We have also provided a checklist for professional dress for both . Within each checklist is a list of business professional and business casual dress. Additionally, doing your research on the company before showing up will help you determine whether you should dress business professional or casual. If you're not sure, always err on the side of professional.
